Dillon Brooks injury gets immediate support from Suns teammates: ‘That’s my guy’

PHOENIX– The injury bug continues to bite Phoenix Sunsand this time it comes to the account Dillon Brooks. During Saturday’s thrilling 113-100 double overtime victory, Brooks broke his armwhich shocked many.

The latter was injured in the first quarter and made little grimaces after shooting or handling the ball. After the game, the Phoenix players were informed of the injury and had a variety of reactions.

Everyone was dark, and Jalen Green was inside complete shock when the media told him about Brooks’ injury.

“I never want to see anybody get hurt, especially break anything. But, I mean, that’s my guy,” Green said after the game.

“I’ll keep him in good spirits. We need him there. We miss him there. I hope to talk to him after we get out of here and see where his head is at.”

Moments earlier, the media spoke with Grayson Allen in the locker room. When he was informed of Brooks’ injury, he knew because he talked to him right after the game.

Allen mentioned that Brooks was “freaked out” and that he was going to “hold him down” until he was out. However, there is an important message the shooter had for everyone who is on the floor and at his disposal.

“It’s extremely unfortunate. That’s been our bad luck all year. We’re definitely going to miss him, but the next guy and hopefully all the guys that are ready now, stay healthy because we need everybody to step up,” Allen said.

Injuries come and go, but at this point in the season the missed time weighs more and more. For someone like him who has only missed seven games, the best ability may be availability.

Not having a second scorer on the team can throw off the dynamic. He improved as a shooter, but Brooks brings the advantage which seems like most in the NBA don’t.

But that’s not stopping head coach Jordan Ott from feeling too bad about himself or the team after Brooks’ injury. However, it exists the key to stopping the bleeding it was the team’s bread and butter.

“We can’t feel sorry for ourselves,” Ott said. “No one’s going to feel sorry for themselves. They (Orlando) certainly won’t. They’re trying to go out and win the game just like we are. Nobody cares. Nobody cares. And the only group that can help us when you’re stuck is our group.”

The camaraderie is one of the many focal points on this particular Suns team. But the outing of Brooks and Devin Booker, with three games in the next five days, will be a big test.

Once again, it’s the next man up mentality.
