Dillon Brooks talks about the first tribute that was 9 years in the making



In a career year for Dillon Brooksthe Phoenix Suns they were the recipients of his sublime playing. Doc It was thought that Brooks elevates the Suns’ culture, he’s also elevated their play on the court.

Most importantly, he won the Western Conference Player of the Week for the first time in his career. He averaged 28.8 points per game while shooting 54.5% from deep to lead Phoenix to a 3-1 record.

That notably included his 40-point night against the Detroit Pistons. His teammates weren’t too impressed with his career season, and neither was his head coach, Jordan Ott.

Regardless, Brooks believes there is simple explanation for his first prize.

“My teammates have been giving me the basketball. I feel like I’ve been pretty good all week. It’s amazing. I just want to do it again,” Brooks said, via AZCentral’s Duane Rankin on X (formerly Twitter).

Even without Devin Booker and Jalen Green, the Suns look like a complete and well-rounded team. The the head of the serpent is Brookswho led the charge of attack and defence.

Without Booker, Brooks averaged 23.8 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.3 assists. Those are significant increases over his career averages.

But all season long, he is referenced his work in the summer and how much dedication he put into his craft. It can be said that it played out well for both him and Phoenix.

The All-Star break is right around the corner, and Brooks was not in that game. His first award could give him the recognition he deserves this season.

Regardless of what happens, he’s focused on winning and continuing to build a lasting culture in Phoenix.
