Dirk Nowitzki’s Jason Kidd confession will intrigue fans

DALLAS — The Dallas Mavericks will have a big game on Monday night against the Oklahoma City Thunder Sunday’s 139-129 win via the Toronto Raptors. While talking to the press before the match, the head coach Jason Kidd was asked who his favorite teammate was during his NBA career. Kidd gave an answer that is sure to delight Mavs fans, answering the question saying Dirk Nowitzki.
Nowitzki, of course, is the Mavericks greatest player of all time and a Hall of Famer. He also has a statue outside the American Airlines Center. Kidd and Dirk won the franchise’s only championship together in 2011 — so it’s no surprise to hear that Kidd enjoyed playing with the legendary power forward.
Kidd is also a member of the Hall of Fame. He is known as one of the best point guards of all time. Now, Kidd is looking to lead Dallas to its first championship since that 2011 postseason.
With the overall number 1 for 2025 Cooper Flagg on the rosterthe future is bright for this Mavs team. They might win soon after all, like Anthony Davis is currently in the lead. Kyrie Irving he is also expected to return after recovering from ACL surgery in early 2026.
The 2011 team had a quality combination of star power and fan favorites. Dallas wasn’t favored to win it all, but Nowitzki and Kidd helped the Mavs get the job done. Kidd could further cement his basketball legacy in Dallas by leading the Mavericks to a second championship as a coach.
As for Monday night’s game, tip-off is set for 8:30 PM EST in Dallas as the Mavericks look to win their second straight contest.
