Doc Rivers acknowledges another challenge in the Giannis Antetokounmpo saga

The Milwaukee Bucks currently, the head coach is also trapped in the house of mirrors Doc Rivers is the first to admit that he doesn’t have a map to take them out. Between the sudden drop and the deafening noise a the potential exit of Giannis Antetokounmpothe vibes in Brave City have officially hit rock bottom.

After a series of reports that the Bucks are finally “listening.” trade offers for his two-time MVPRivers was candid about the impossible task of keeping the locker room focused. Speaking about the challenge of managing players amid the wind, Rivers told Fox 1 analyst Rachel Nichols that the modern era has changed the game.

“I don’t know the answer — I never knew that answer,” Rivers admitted. “It’s a lot harder now than when we played. You’d have to buy a newspaper to read a newspaper.”

Back in the day, a player could avoid the rumor mill by simply not walking to the driveway. Now, rumors are “ubiquitous”, embedded in every smartphone and social media content. It’s a distraction the Bucks (18-27) simply can’t afford, but they can’t escape.

The reality on the ground is not much nicer. Doc Antetokounmpo remains on the sidelines with a strained right calf, the rest of the roster is struggling to stay afloat. On Tuesday night, the Philadelphia 76ers crushed Milwaukee 139-122. Even without the Greek Freak, Myles Turner did his best to carry the load, dropping 31 points, while young guard Ryan Rollins continued his recent surge with 24 points.

However, moral victories do not count on the scoreboard. The Bucks have lost six of their last seven games and are currently in 12th place in the Eastern Conference. With the Feb. 5 trade deadline looming like a dark cloud, the pressure on general manager Jon Horst to either go all-in or blow it is reaching a fever pitch.

Rivers may not have an answer to the gossip of the digital age, but he needs to find a win soon, or the “paper” everyone reads could lead with a very different headline next week.
