Does Nets’ Dai’Ron Sharpe play against Raptors? Latest injury update

The Brooklyn Nets will try to get their second win of the season when they host Toronto Raptors on Tuesday. They may be without a key figure in the frontcourt during the match. After missing Sunday’s loss to the New York Knicks with a strained left hamstring, De’Ron Sharp is questionable against Toronto.

Sharpe played 12 minutes during Sunday’s loss before you feel the tendon tighten. He ended the third quarter with Brooklyn’s second unit, but did not return. Nets coach Jordi Fernandez said the big man will undergo testing on Monday.

The controversial Raptors matchup designation indicates that Sharpe is not expected to miss an extended period. Nets guard Cam Thomas also left a recent game with hamstring tightness but will miss at least three to four weeks

Sharpe’s availability will be critical to the Nets’ ability to compete moving forward. The five-year center became one of the best reserve players in the NBA last season signing a two-year, $12 million deal this summer. He continued to make an impact early this year, averaging 6.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists on 64.9 percent shooting in 15.9 minutes per game.

Brooklyn has no experienced center outside of Sharpe and Nick Claxton. If the former is unable to play on Tuesday, Giants rookie Danny Wolf should see the first significant minutes of his NBA career. Wolff made his NBA debut last week, playing three scoreless minutes in a loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The former Michigan star joined Brooklyn’s G League affiliate, the Long Island Nets, for the first two games of the season. He set back-to-back double-doubles during a pair of shows with Long Island over the weekend.

Third-year forward Noah Clowney could also see time at center if Sharp is sidelined.
