Dominic Hasek reacts to Team USA skipping the invitation to the White House

The United States women’s ice hockey team ended its dominant run at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy by winning the gold medal after defeating Canada 2-1 in overtime in the final.

With an impressive team display, President Donald Trump he invited the team to attend his State of the Union address at the White House on Tuesday. Team USA, however, had to decline mainly due to logistics.

Former NHL star Dominic Hasek praised Team USA’s decision and also called out Trump for his angry attitude.

“Great respect for these women. Yes, your president is a great liar and fraud who abuses his position to insult and harass his fellow citizens. However, I believe you had to show great heroism by making this decision. Thank you for that,” Hasek said on Ks.

The scathing remark by Hasek, who won a gold medal with Team USA at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Japan, quickly went viral. Fans praised the former goalkeeper for his brave stance.

“It’s become a rare thing that I admire my childhood sports heroes even more as an adult than as a child. Thanks for speaking out against bad things. I wish more people would do that.” he said @JeremyBesch.

“Telling the truth to the authorities” he added @Bellihungri.

“One of the good ones, Dom. On and off the ice,” published @HellebuicksHart.

“I knew my man was Hasek KOZA”, commented @AscherTweets.

“Excellent post by one of, if not, the best goalkeeper of all time. Very classy sir,” noticed @BobbiFalcone1.

The US men’s ice hockey team had a similar experience at the 2026 Winter Olympics, also winning the gold medal after defeating Canada 2-1 in overtime in the final.

Their locker room celebration drew political criticism when FBI Director Cash Patel, a Trump appointee, joined the players amid what the White House called an official business trip to Italy.

The team he also leaked the video call with Trumpwhich justifies more criticism from the public.
