Dominique Wilkins thanks the Warriors for waiving Jonathan Cumminga

On Sunday night, The Atlanta Hawks won their fourth straight with a big home win over the Portland Trail Blazers. It was the second one stellar play for recent trade acquisition Jonathan Cummingswho scored 20 points off the bench in his third game since joining the lineup.
Kuminga was recently acquired by the Hawks from Golden State Warriors in exchange for big man Kristaps Porzingis, and at one point during Sunday’s game, Kuminga threw down a ferocious tomahawk dunk, followed by another left-handed dunk through competition.
The Hawks announcers saw Jonathan Cuminga switch hands in the air on the dunk and IMMEDIATELY started clowning the Warriors for giving up on him ðŸ˜ðŸ˜

After an epic performance, the Hawks legend and commentator Dominique Wilkins he called out the Warriors for their part in the Cummings deal.
“Thank you Golden State Warriors. We appreciate it,” Wilkins said. “…I can’t imagine you giving up on such a young guy with that ability.”
Making matters even more embarrassing for the Warriors is the fact that Porzingis played just one game in Golden State, suffering from an illness that also plagued him during his short stay in Atlanta.
Overall, Kuminga fits the Hawks’ vision of building a team of young, athletic wings who can run the floor and push the ball in transition. It should be noted that Cummings’ three appearances in Atlanta have come against less-than-stellar competition, but for an Atlanta fan base that has suffered through a frustrating 2025-26 season thus far, they’re happy to have something to cheer for.
There are certainly concerns about dropping Kuminga, Jalen Johnson and Deason Daniels, especially with the trio’s ability to knock down perimeter shots. However, if they can improve in that department, Atlanta could have an intriguing young tandem of versatile wings on their hands.
Either way, the Hawks will look to win their fifth straight on Wednesday night against the Milwaukee Bucks.
