Donovan Mitchell really wanted to play with James Harden

The calendar coincidence worked out well as a few hours after the exchange between the Clippers and Cavaliers, the two teams met again at the Intuit Dome. Various recruits were not in uniform, and Cleveland made short work of Tyronn Lue’s lineup with a success of 33 points.

In origin, it seems, from James Harden’s choice to support him, Donovan Mitchell explained why he pushed his leaders. “We both know it will take time to adjust,” Mitchell told The Athletic. “But we’re very excited. I’m excited about what he can bring to me as a player, and what he can bring to the team as a whole. We want the same thing. We both want the title. So at the end of the day, we have the same goals, and we have to do everything to win at the highest level.”

For shooting guard Sam Merrill, Harden is one of those players who makes his teammates better. “I think we’re all looking forward to welcoming him and getting to work.”Merrill announces. “I’m really happy he’s joining our system. He’s obviously one of the greatest scorers and passers of all time. He’s one of the best creators in history. He’s going to make life easier for all of us. Hopefully his presence will take us to a new level.”

Mitchell is ready to play without the ball

The question is whether Harden and Mitchell can play together. Both need the ball to be effective, and there is only one for two… James Harden has already played with creators and isolation specialists, and is undoubtedly the most suitable to adapt to his new friend.

“We know that there will be a period of adaptation,” repeats Mitchell. “I’m going to have to learn to play without the ball a little more. I’ve done it before, and I’ll have to again. But James is one of the best to ever do it. I think we both want the same thing, with the same goal in mind. We just want to win, and I think we’re ready to do what it takes.”

For Kenny Atkinson, the arrival of James Harden is also an opportunity for the Allen-Mobley couple. “James is going to elevate everybody. We’re excited about our interior. We’re excited about Sam. We think he’s going to be beneficial for all of us. He’s one of the best passers in the history of basketball.”
