Donte DiVincenzo’s face after injury scare has fans buzzing

The Minnesota Timberwolves suffered a brief injury scare during Saturday’s 122-105 win against the Charlotte Hornets when Donte DiVincenzo left the game during the first half after getting hit in the face. DiVincenzo eventually returned to the game, with his own the nose looks like was in obvious discomfort. DiVincenzo’s facial appearance caused quite a stir from concerned fans on social media.
Some fans made light of the situation seeing as DiVincenzo didn’t seem too fazed by the punch to the face.

The injury scare occurred early in the second quarter of the Timberwolves’ game against the Hornets when Donte DiVincenzo was elbowed in the face by Collin Sexton. DiVincenzo worked his way back into the game, finishing with 18 points, three rebounds, four assists and one steal in just over 31 minutes per game. He shot 6 of 14 (42.9 percent) from the field, 5 of 12 (41.7 percent) from the three-point line and 1 of 2 from the free throw line.
DiVincenzo was part of the lineup change The Wolves began this season by benching Mike Conley and installing DiVincenzo as the starting point guard. Conley has since returned to the starting lineup as Anthony Edwards has been ruled out with a hamstring injury.
Entering Saturday’s game, DiVincenzo has appeared in all five games for the Timberwolves so far with only about 30 minutes per game. He averaged 12.6 points, 2.6 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.4 steals while shooting 43.2 percent from the field, 41.9 percent from the three-point line and 85.7 percent from the free throw line.
The No. 17 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, DiVincenzo is now in his eighth NBA season and his second full season with the Wolves. Minnesota originally acquired DiVincenzo prior to the start of the 2024-25 season in which Karl-Anthony Towns left for the New York Knicks.
