Drake May’s measured statement after the game will make fans

Drake Maia and The New England Patriots are winners of 10 in order after shipping the New York Giants33-15, on Monday night. With the win improving the Patriots to 11-2 and moving them back into sole possession of first place in the AFC standings, May he couldn’t help but think his team could achieve some great things down the line.
“We have a great team. We have great coaches,” May told ESPN’s Lisa Salters after the win over the Giants. “I have a lot of faith in this team. I think we can do some things in the future, but we’re taking it week by week.”
May produced another spectacular display in victory. He completed 24 of 31 passes for 282 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions with a 126 passer rating. in fact May’s first half was magnificent. His 16-of-20 passing for 208 yards and two touchdowns in the first half helped New England take a 30-7 halftime lead.
As May shined again on Monday, it’s hard not to think he’s worthy of the MVP. In fact, he became the betting leader who won the prize in most sportsbooks. And Patriots fans made it clear once again that they think their quarterback should win the MVP, chatting as such on several occasions during Monday’s win.
Unlike some of the other times he’s been asked about his chances this season, May has embraced the singing and appreciates the love.
“I think we were trying to give the fans something to cheer for, and we did. Ten in a row. … We still have work to do. But we’re so proud of this team. These fans were great.”
What Drake May said about not throwing for 300 yards in Patriots win
Maya’s second season went about as well as anyone could have hoped for, if not better. But there’s one thing that somehow still eludes the young quarterback: a 300-yard passing performance.
May appeared to reach that mark at one point in Monday’s game. Late in the fourth quarter, Maie threw a 30-yard touchdown pass to Hunter Henry that would put him over 300 passing yards on the day. However, the play was called back due to compensation penalties, and New England was called for an illegal shift.
The Patriots ran the ball several times after that, and Maye failed to reach 300 yards. But that’s not a concern for him.
“I don’t worry about that. I worry about winning,” May told Salters. “Those things will come down. Right now I’m worried about winning.”
While Maye has yet to have a 300-yard day, it’s clear that he’s been the catalyst in the Patriots’ winning streak. But he rejects credit for it.
“There are a lot of people in this locker room, in this organization, who play a big role in us winning games,” May told reporters. “And shoot, just like you guys, showing up every day and making fun of you all in the locker room on Friday and asking us questions after practice, these guys are the same thing. They show up every day and they want to get better. And we’re just proud of the guys and this team that we have and we love being around them.”
Now, May and the Patriots will get some time off before trying to extend their winning streak to 11 games when they face the Buffalo Bills in Week 15. It will also be New England’s chance to win its first league title since 2019.
