Drake Powell has been ruled out of the Heat game with a sprained ankle
Drake Powell’s woes with ankle injuries continued on Thursday Brooklyn Nets– Miami Heat match. The Nets rookie sprained his right ankle during the first quarter of the game and was immediately ruled out.
Powell sprained the same ankle twice earlier this season, forcing him to miss six games. The 22nd pick was out for most of the offseason due to right knee tendinopathy. Even so, he carved out a solid role for the Nets’ second unit after returning from a pair of early-season ankle sprains.

Powell averaged 6.9 points1.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists on 47.5 percent shooting from the field and 37.8 percent from three in 20.1 minutes per game over his last 16 appearances.
19 year old is one of the four starters shooting over 48 percent from the field and 37 percent from three (minimum 15 minutes per game), alongside Colin Murray-Boyles, Will Richard and Ryan Nembhardt. Meanwhile, he made a noticeable impact on the defensive end, using his superior athleticism and seven-foot wingspan.
With Powell potentially sidelined for another extended period, Nets rookie Ben Saraf or Nolan Traore could be in line for the NBA call-up next week. Saraf bounced back and forth between the NBA and the G League earlier this season. Meanwhile, Traore has spent most of his time on Long Island, but joined Brooklyn for a pair of games last weekend.
Jaylen Wilson, who has been cut from the rotation in favor of Powell in recent weeks, could also get an extended opportunity.
