Draymond Green cites racial overtones in incident with ref

After a game against the Detroit Pistons in which he was assessed a technical foul, Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green said he did given the technique of saying “to a Caucasian judge not to put his hand in my face,” which Green said he found “very ironic.”
After the Warriors’ 131-124 loss to the Pistons on Friday, Green said Orr fired him when he argued over what he believed was a missed call with NBA official JT Orr during the second quarter, who he said put his hand in his face. However, a replay of the incident shows Orr putting his hand on Green’s chest and saying something to Green, who reacted angrily and was quickly called for a technical inspection.
On a recent episode of ‘The Draymond Green Show,’ Green extended to his initial comments.
“Black people in America have suffered more than anybody. Black people have been mistreated more than anybody. Black people in America have been marginalized more than anybody. Black people in America have been dealt a bad hand since the beginning of time,” Green said. “So the reason why I talked about being black in America is because everything that black people in America have been through, I’m not okay with anybody about it, but especially in this situation, a white man puts his hand in my face and in his stern voice tells me now is my chance to not say another word and put his hand in my face.”
Green also said that it’s “never going to be okay” regardless of the situation or the person involved.

Green has received 10 technical fouls this season, tied for fourth most in the league Dillon Brooks of the Phoenix Suns (14), Luka Doncic from the Los Angeles Lakers (13), and Isaiah Stewart from the Detroit Pistons (11).
As the trade deadline approaches, Green is rumored to be a potential trade chip for the Warriors as they attempt to land Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo. Green, 35, is in the third season of a four-year, $100 million contract that he can opt out of this offseason. Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints reported that if Green is being traded as part of the Antetokounmpo dealGreen could play the rest of the season at the second position, opt out and re-sign with the Warriors in the summer.
The deadline is Thursday at 3pm ET. Before that, Golden State plays the Philadelphia 76ers tomorrow night in San Francisco.
