Draymond Green hits back at ‘head-scratching’ Kevin Durant
The The Golden State Warriors were in a bit of a slump lately, losing two straight games to the Milwaukee Bucks and the Indiana Pacers on the road, both without their best players in the lineup. Golden State’s defense hasn’t been good in either game, letting relatively unknown players like Ryan Rollins burn them.
Speaking of defense, recently, the former Warriors NBA Finals MVP Kevin Durant he had an interesting take on the subject, arguing that offense is more important to winning championships.
now, Draymond Green is returning fire on them claims his former teammate.
“I think when you look at any team that’s won a championship, they’ve had great defense. And if you look at most teams that couldn’t get over the hump, it’s often (because) they couldn’t stop. That fact still remains, and I think those who don’t believe, they don’t win. It’s very simple. Those who don’t believe, they just don’t believe, they just don’t. win,” Green said, per Sam Amico of the Athletics.
“If anything, it was like scratching my head. I was like, ‘Huh?’ But like I said, on the other hand, it wasn’t a big deal because I know Kevin. …I haven’t seen the whole context, so I know the words are thrown around. But I read what he said,” Green said.
Interesting perspective

If Durant truly believes that defense isn’t as important to the game as offense, that might explain his Phoenix Suns team’s putrid effort on that end of the floor last year, which resulted in them missing the playoffs entirely.
As Green pointed out, almost every championship team in modern NBA history has had at least a good, and in most cases, elite defense, including last year’s Oklahoma City Thunder, who are considered one of the best defensive units of all time.
This year, the Warriors will look to play better defense than what they have shown in the last two games if they are to achieve their ultimate goals for the season.
