Draymond Green is expected to play against the Rockets on Wednesday

The Golden State Warriors received positive information ahead of their face-off against the Houston Rockets in the NBA Cup on Wednesday after Draymond Green was listed as probable in the injury report.

Green played his last game against the Utah Jazz on Monday due to a sprained foot. Golden State won 134-117.

Brett Seigel of ClutchPoints confirmed that the 35-year-old forward he expects to play against the Rockets, although Jonathan Cummings and Al Horford will be sidelined with knee tendinitis and nerve irritation, respectively. They were also celebrating a win over Utah.

Green suffered a sprained foot in Friday’s 127-123 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers after Donovan Klingan fell on him during a scramble for the ball.

With him likely back in action, Green will once again anchor the Warriors’ defense, while helping Stephen Curry orchestrate the offense. His importance to the team is hard to overstate, especially when it comes to their mental toughness and emotional balance.

Green is averaging 8.1 points, 5.8 rebounds and 5.8 assists in 28.7 minutes per game. But it’s no secret that his real value is in the intangibles of the game.

It will be the first meeting between Golden State and Houston since the battle in the first round of last season’s playoffs. The seventh-seeded Warriors defeated the second-seeded Rockets in Game 7, and Buddy Hield scored an unforgettable 33 points with nine three-pointers.

Houston will likely be without Kevin Durant, who is dealing with personal matters. Durant won two titles with Golden State.

The Warriors and Rockets are each 1-2 in the NBA Cup.
