Draymond Green says the quiet part about Jimmy Butler out loud

The Golden State Warriors will have to turn around by the end of the season, like Jimmy Butler suffered a torn ACL in their game against the Miami Heat. After what he brought to the team last season when he was traded to the Warriorsthe hope was that they could continue to build on this season. No, it wasn’t a great start to the year, but it looked like they were just finding a consistent group in the last few games.

Now they will be looking at other players, and there is uncertainty for the future and what this Warriors team could look like. Draymond Green asked about Butler and what his injury means for the present and the future, and he was completely honest.

“The first order of business is just trying to figure it out,” Green said. “There’s no one answer. The only answer is nobody here, it’s not going to happen. Jimmy is who Jimmy is for a reason. … We’ll go through it and figure it out. That’s the nature of the game we play. That’s why you have 15 guys on the roster. But I believe we can figure it out. What it means for us long term.” I don’t know?

Everyone knows Butler is a hard worker, and Green knows how a teammate might be feeling right now. He talked about emotions after witnessing the injury.

“First, you feel for him. And then you just try to process it. Just try to process it. It’s emotionally draining. Just try to do your best, process it and move forward,” Green said.

The Warriors could still try to make a move or two to help this season, but over the past few seasons, it’s been clear they don’t want to go all-in and give up a certain amount of assets. The big question is what happens after this season as they try to compensate for one of their best players.
