Eastern Conference CEO destroys Ja Morant’s trade value

Memphis The Grizzlies are open to trading Ja Morantand over the next few weeks many will see its value. There are several teams that need a point guard, and someone like Morant could help them, but they may not be willing to make a deal for him due to various factors.
Those factors must include things on and off the field, and executives are already talking how low its value isaccording to Tim McMahon at The Hoop Collective.
“I’m just going to quote an executive from the East. The combination of pain in the a-, injury-prone, not so good anymore, and the big contract, is bad,” McMahon said.
This season alone, Morant seems to have taken a step back, and doesn’t look like the explosive player he was last season. That’s always been a big part of his game, and if he doesn’t have that, there’s not much.
“Again, he doesn’t attack the rim,” McMahon said. “He had a 40-point game recently that was a reminder, or even an indication of likes, hey, if I want to, I can still. How often does he want? How often is he even available. He’s a bad rebound shooter, shooting more rebounds than ever.”
When you look at what its value might be, it is it’s hard to compare him to Tree Youngwho has a player option this offseason and his contract was better able to handle what he brings to the floor. Anyone trading for Morant would have to pick up the remaining few years of his contract, where he makes over $40 million a year.
Then you have to factor in his health over the past few seasons, and things off the field, and you have a player who has a lot of baggage.
