Easy recovery for Austin Reeves
Almost six weeks after injuring his left calf on Christmas Day, Austin Reaves finally found the floors, during the Lakers’ easy trip to Brooklyn. The replacement, Los Angeles guard played 21 minutes, scoring 15 points on 3/9 shooting, with 4 rebounds and 2 steals. For his greatest happiness.
“Being on the bench is boring. For a month and a half, I think the only thing I did was yell at the referees. It’s not pleasant. It’s much better to be able to yell at them on the floor.”, Austin Reaves has fun. “It’s a good feeling to be on the field, feel the energy and play the sport I love”
He could be back in New York on Sunday night, so, despite this impatience, why did he wait to be in Brooklyn? “I wanted to make sure I was 100% OK”he answers. “I really wanted to play against the Knicks, I love playing there. I would have liked to help the team, but I didn’t feel good. When I got up on Tuesday morning, I felt very good.”
The encounter, easily won by the Californians, was a smooth return for the tailback, who should gain strength over the weeks to find his best level within two months and the start of the playoffs.
“Having a player back gave us a boost, especially at the end of the trip”describes LeBron James. “Obviously his pace is a bit off, but he’s still making an impact. I’m happy he’s back.”
