Egor Demin is out, Nick Claxton is questionable for the Cavs game


The Brooklyn Nets will be denied as they try to snap a seven-game losing streak Sunday vs Cleveland Cavaliers. Egor Demin was ruled out of the match due to treatment of an injury to the left plantar fascia. Nic Clacton is questionable for the Cavaliers game with a sprained right thumb.

Demin missed most of the offseason due to tearing of the plantar fascia. However, he played in his second straight game after the All-Star break on Friday. The rookie guard hasn’t played back-to-back in more than two months before the All-Star break.

After a promising start to his rookie campaign, Demin has recently seen a dip in production due to the move to fullback. The 19-year-old averaged 8.8 points, 3.1 rebounds and 3.0 assists on .360/.317/.789 shooting in 11 appearances in February.

Clacton appeared on the injury report with a sore thumb after playing 23 minutes during Friday’s 148-111 loss to the Boston Celtics. The veteran center continued one of the best offensive seasons of his career in February, averaging 14.2 points and 3.7 assists on 66.3 percent shooting. However, he did go nine consecutive games without a shutout, the longest streak of his seven-year career.

With Demin sidelined, rookie point guard Ben Sarraf could see extended minutes in Brooklyn’s rotation. The No. 26 pick returned to the Nets during Friday’s loss after an extended stint in the G League.

If Clacton is unable to play, Dai’Ron Sharpe will move into the Nets’ starting lineup at center. Sharpe is on average This season, 8.5 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists on 59.4 percent shooting in 18.6 minutes per game.
