“Either you want to get out of the hole, or you stay at the bottom…”

That’s one loss too many for the Clippers, the Mavericks dominate at home. After this 15th setback in 20 games, Tyronn Lue’s players are in second-to-last place in the Western Conference, and Kawhi Leonard has finally come out of silence and sounded the alarm.

“Everyone must dig deep within themselves and accept the challenge” he warns. “It’s time to get out of the hole. Either you want to do it or stay at the bottom.”

Do the Clippers have the capacity, especially the mental capacity, to get up and get out of this losing streak. For John Collins, we need to move from words to actions. “We have to get our energy back, collectively, whether it’s coming from executives, starters, coaches, whatever,” warns the former Hawks dunker. “Everybody has to really believe it, that we’re ready to win. If everybody doesn’t believe it, we’re just making noise.”

After 20 games, Tyronn Lue regrets that his group is unable to play a good 48 minutes. “Everything starts with each of us”, reminds the Clippers coach. “You have to be able to look in the mirror and see what you can best bring to the team. We all have to be better. We played two or three good quarters, but we couldn’t hang on. Not more than 48 minutes.”

That’s why Leonard remains optimistic. “There are 62 games left… We just have to be good in the second quarter of the season, the remaining three quarters, and see what we can do.”
