According to EurohoopsASVEL is indeed offering a team at a lower price this season, for a total budget of 4.55 million euros. However, EuroLeague rules stipulate that a club with a permanent license cannot have a payroll that is more than 30 percent lower than the team’s average earnings. Translation: we need to match at least €5.85 million in wages to stay on track.
Before leaving the Euroleague, Alba Berlin had already adopted the same strategy, refusing to invest more in a competition where financial losses were piling up year after year.
