Fan gets viral warning for sitting on Clippers wall with jersey

The LA Clippers have worked tirelessly to make their new arena – the Intuit Dome – a fun home for Clippers fans to come and cheer on their team. More than a year after their opener, some Lakers fans still seem to should be reminded about that.

When the Intuit Dome opened in the fall of 2024, the Clippers made it clear that the Wall would be the section dedicated to the Clippers’ most loyal and loudest fans. The lower level of the Wall, called the Island, stands on its feet throughout the game and rocks Clippers gear, and while the rest of the Wall doesn’t have to be on its feet at all times, there is a very specific rule the Clippers have had from day one: fans can’t wear the opposing team’s gear.

During the Clippers game vs Los Angeles Lakers at the Intuit Dome on Thursday night, one Lakers fan who wore a LeBron James jersey to the game and had wall seats got a powerful reminder and has been making the rounds on social media ever since.

“Uh oh… looks like you’ve crossed into forbidden territory in the Wall!” read the note which was handed out to fans by an arena employee within five minutes of taking a seat on the wall.

The Wall! is a sacred space just for Clippers fans, and right now you’re a little off limits. Cheering for another team or rocking gear that isn’t all about the LA Clippers? Not in our house. This is your one and only warning. If you break the wall! code again, you’ll be shown the door—no refunds, no mercy, and yes, all of Clipper Nation will judge you. And if you are Chuckmark certified? You will lose that coveted certificate, your access to The Wall! And from now on you will pay full price for concessions. No more insider jobs for you. You have been warned! #ClipperNation”

This fan is not the first to receive this warning because he is sitting with the opposing team’s equipment on the Wall, and he certainly won’t be the last.

A fan who came to the Clippers’ home game against Cade Cunningham and the Detroit Pistons got the same message when he sat on the wall while wearing Pistons gear.

“Crazy I bought a front row court under the basket right next to the Pistons bench,” the fan said. “I took off my sweatshirt and put on a ’94 Grant Hill jersey. I was told I had to put on a sweater right away because I was on the side of the wall. Even though the wall is in the stands and I’m courtside. They told me I’d be kicked out if I cheered for the Pistons.

“What an exaggeration and such a joke to sit there quietly for two hours. I’m not allowed to clap for my team. Even though these cards don’t say anything about it on them.”

A few hours before they arrive at the game, fans receive an email notification that reads:

“Your seat(s) for the upcoming game is in The Wall!, which is a dedicated section for Clipper Nation. Cheering for the opposing team and/or wearing NBA gear supporting a team other than the LA Clippers is strictly prohibited. If you violate the rules of The Wall!, you will be moved until seats are free.”

The Lakers lost Thursday night’s game against the Clippers 112-104. Luka Doncic led the Lakers with 32 points to go along with 11 rebounds and eight assists, but shot just 11 of 27 from the field. LeBron James added 23 points, five rebounds and six assists.

For the Clippers, Kawhi Leonard scored 24 points with five rebounds and four assists, while Ivica Zubac finished with 18 points and 19 rebounds. Zubac grabbed 10 offensive rebounds, four more than the entire Lakers team. Seven Clippers players scored in double figures, including James Harden’s double-double with 18 points and 10 assists.
