Fan plays Chicago theme song as Michael Jordan heads to court for NASCAR antitrust trial

currently, Michael Jordan is involved in high-profile antitrust litigation against NASCAR. But that doesn’t stop some from wanting to jump in and bring back the aura Chicago Bulls‘dynasty.

On Friday, a fan decided to blow up intro music by the legendary Bulls as Jordan entered the courtroom, according to Jordan Bianchi of Athletic.

This comes at a time when Jordan expects to take a stand on Friday, according to ESPN.

In 2024, Jordan’s 23KSI Racing and Front Row Motorsports filed an antitrust suit against NASCAR. The lawsuit alleges that the legendary French family has created an illegal monopoly that stifles competition and does not distribute a fair share of revenue through charter contracts.

Jordan and his team argue that his team and others are at risk of falling profits because of the current system.

The legacy of the 1990s Chicago Bulls needs no explanation. Since retiring in 2003, Jordan has been involved in his business ventures and philanthropic work.

Among them are certainly the Jordan brand, restaurants, health clinics and investing in NASCAR. At the same time, Jordan maintained a significantly lower profile.

Michael Jordan’s involvement in NASCAR

Growing up in North Carolina, Jordan was a huge NASCAR fan thanks to his late father, James. He would attend races and admire the drivers of the 1970s and 1980s. Among them were Richard Petty, Dale Earnhardt, Cale Yarborough, etc.

In 2020, Jordan teamed up with driver Denny Hamlin to launch 23KSI Racing. The two drivers he signed were Bubba Wallace and Tyler Reddick. In the process, Jordan became the first black full-time NASCAR Cup Series owner since Wendell Scott.

Over time, Jordan became a very involved owner. He attends races and has developed relationships with drivers, his own and others.
