Fans are joking after Trae Young was ejected before making his Wizards debut

The Washington Wizards they’ve had a tough 2025-26 season, but things hit a comical new low on Monday night. Trae Youngthe team’s blockbuster midseason acquisition, he was expected to finally make his debut against the Houston Rockets. Instead, he made the news for all the wrong reasons.

Young was ejected from the game before playing just one second. The incident occurred when an argument broke out between Washington’s Jameer Watkins and Houston’s Terry Eason. Young, still warming up, wandered to the floor during the spit. NBA rules are strict about bench players entering the court during a fight, and officials Tony Brothers didn’t hesitate to eject the star point guard.

With the game still underway, the Rockets are currently taking advantage of the distracted Wizards, leading 106-89 at the end of the contest. Houston was led by Alperen Sengun with 22 points and seven rebounds. Bilal Coulibaly tried to keep Washington competitive with his 18 points, but the story of the night remains the guy in the locker room.

Social media is having a field day with his “Wizards-era” debut.. Fans are not holding back, with one user stating“Trae Young tonight: 0 minutes 0 points 0 assists 1 ejection.”

The criticism he even followed him from his former home. “Part of why I’m so glad my Hawks got rid of Tree is because he’s more about drama than professionalism. He’s more about podcasts than the gym,” one fan posted. Others he added“Trey Young was ejected from the Wizards game tonight. Yes. You read that right. Trae Young was ejected before he ever played for his team.”

Even those in shock couldn’t believe their luck, speaking“Taking Tree Young out wasn’t on my bingo card… Come on Tony, you’re crazy about it.”

Young now needs to make his real debut Thursday against the Utah Jazz. Hopefully this time he stays on the bench until the whistle blows.
