Fans feel for Joel Embiid after an ugly 4-point night against the Celtics
Injuries have taken so much away Philadelphia 76ers star great man Joel Embiid. His NBA career could be defined by his size when healthy and the accomplishments he would add to his impressive basketball resume if there were no injuries he was dealing with.
During the 76ers’ 2025-26 NBA season opener against the Boston Celtics on the road at TD Garden, Embiid looked nowhere near his peak form.
Although he started the game, he had just four points while going just 1-for-9 from the floor. With minutes restricted, Embiid played just 20 minutes, but even Jabari Walker, who came off the bench and played almost as many minutes as the former NBA MVP, had six points on four field goal attempts.
With Embiid having a rough night, fans had mixed reactions to the center’s performance.
“Nick nurse got some bench balls for the finish. Turns out the reason they won was obviously not healthy,” fan he said.
“Looked so slow and gave 0 effort. Sixers look so much better with him on the bench. And this is coming from a huge Embiid fan,” another he answered.
“He obviously shouldn’t be there rn I respect him for trying but man at some point you’re a disservice to your team and your body,” one commenter wrote.

Still, the 76ers pulled away with a 117-116 victory over Boston, thanks in large part to their excellent backcourt duo of Tyrese McKay and VJ Edgecombewhich erupted for 40 and 34 points respectively.
The Sixers have a home game coming up this Saturday against the Charlotte Hornets.
