Fans have mixed feelings about Cooper Flagg’s NBA debut

All eyes were on the overall selection Cooper Flagg as he debuted for the much-anticipated Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday against the San Antonio Spurs at the American Airlines Center.

Many were curious to see how Flagg would fare in his first regular season game, in particular against Spurs led by Victor Vembanjam.

Flagg finished with a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds, although he struggled from the field on 4-of-13 shooting. He was held scoreless in the first half. His potential was clearly on display, however, as he contributed at both ends.

Fans had mixed feelings about the 18-year-old rookie’s first appearance.

“History just blinked. Cooper Flagg’s first NBA game isn’t just two points, it’s the start of a whole new chapter in Dallas. You can already feel the future rolling in.” he said @PhilipsRatti.

@JDCovbois2 compared Flegg’s debut marks Luke Doncic’s debut with the Mavericks in 2018, perhaps implying the former Duke star will turn out well.

@thaddthornberri, however, mocked Flagg with a Hilarious post.

@DeuceThomas also mocked the young forward iconic GIF former NBA player Kendrick Perkins.

“Cooper’s just getting started!” he added @onderiazici.

“You may disagree, but Cooper Flagg, in my opinion, is overrated and will be just a guy, not an All-Star or a great player like everyone is saying right now,” common @alanbp159.

It was only one game, but some might say first impressions last. Fortunately for Flagg, he has 81 more games to convince everyone that he is The Mavericks made the right move that he chose him as the number 1 overall and that he can live up to all the hype.

Dallas will return to action on Friday against the Washington Wizards.
