Fans react to the wild finish that gave Rick Carlyle his 1,000th win



The Indiana Pacers drew a thrilling, winning 114-112 against the Charlotte Hornets, a game in which he is the head coach Rick Carlisle recorded his 1000th the coach’s career win. It was a game that also saw Hornets wing Brandon Miller has been sent off. The Pacers actually trailed late in the game, but Pascal Siakam’s drive put the Pacers within one point, 113-112, with only about 11 seconds left.

Last season, Carlisle led the Pacers to the NBA Finals where they faced the Oklahoma City Thunder, losing in seven games.

Carlisle made his NBA coaching debut with the Detroit Pistons in 2001. He coached the Pistons for two seasons, leading them to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2002-03. His first stint with the Pacers included an appearance in the Eastern Conference Finals, but the team missed the playoffs in 2006-07 and Carlisle was fired that year.

Carlisle spent 13 seasons as the head coach of the Mavericks after being fired by the Pacers. He led the Mavericks to their only championship in franchise history in 2011.
