Fans rejoice as Jonathan Cumminga drops 20 points against the Raptors

Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Cumminga remains in limbo, with the trade deadline looming. His name continues to be thrown around, especially after his trade request, and the Warriors are reportedly willing to listen to any offer.
However, it might also be a season-ending knee injury from forward Jimmy Butler threw a monkey wrench into Golden State’s plan. Without Butler, the Warriors may no longer want to release Cummings.
On Tuesday he proved that he can be productive if given enough opportunity. He scored 20 points on 7-of-10 shooting in 21 minutes off the bench against the Toronto Raptors, although they lost 145-127. He also had five rebounds, two assists and one steal.
“Definitely a statement from Kuminga after not playing since Dec. 18,” ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel wrote on Ks.
Fans also reacted to Kumminga’s solid performance, with some noting his untapped talent.
“He played well. I hope other teams see that and get attracted. Best for both sides,” he said @NoBadTakesAkui.
“He didn’t play for a month and 20 he fell off the bench,” he added @KeiarmandiK.
“Increase the value, then change the man as soon as possible,” published @easimoneismokee.
“IDK if he’d reconsider the trade request, but he’s a perfect replacement for Jimmy Butler,” claimed @WaiofCraig.
“Why did Kerr ever hate him? He’s a good player with tons of potential. Totally limited because Kerr is stubborn AF,” commented @KevinPorterMVP.
The 23-year-old Kuminga has been an enigma for the Warriors since they drafted him seventh overall in 2021. While he has the tools to become a great player, his on-court habits leave a lot to be desired.
However, his strong performance against the Raptors could be a good audition for Cummings as he looks for greener pastures outside the Bay Area.
