Fans won’t like Steve Kerr’s “lower ceiling” going into the playoffs

Now that they didn’t get Giannis Antetokounmpo from the Milwaukee Bucks at the trade deadline, Golden State Warriors he can put it in the background and focus completely on the mission at hand.

The Warriors, however, were still able to make a significant move, landing Kristaps Porzingis in a deal with the Atlanta Hawkssending Jonathan Cumminga and Buddy Hield in return.

While Antetokounmpo could push them to greater heights, Coach Steve Kerr remained an optimist about their chances, although he also blurted out the harsh reality of the team.

“We still have a good team, a very good team. Even without Jimmy (Butler), we can make the playoffs. The ceiling is absolutely lower. I’m not going to sit here and lie and say we can be as good as we were with Jimmy, there’s no way,” Kerr said in a video posted by ESPN’s Anthony Slater.

Butler is out for the rest of the season with a knee injury, while Stephen Curry deals with a knee problem.

“But I believe in these guys. I believe in chemistry. I believe in veteran leadership. I think we have good health. We can make a really good run and be a playoff team, and when you’re a playoff team, you never know how it plays out,” Kerr added.

In the middle of the challenge, the 60-year-old Kerr acknowledged that they are still finding their waybut they know how to deal with adversity.

“That’s the message. Our goals haven’t changed, but we have to go through the forest immediately,” said the coach of the four-time champion.

The Warriors will try to snap their two-game skid Thursday against the Phoenix Suns at the Mortgage Matchup Center.
