Field Yates slams Buffalo owner for throwing Keon Coleman under the bus

I am talking to journalists for the first time since then Sean McDermott has been relieved of his duties, Buffalo Bills owner Terry Pegula decided to take a moment to call wide receiver Keon Colemannoting that his former head coach punched the table to draw a worse score.
Understandably, this didn’t sit well with some, most notably ESPN’s Field Yates, who took some time on NFL Live to call out Pegula for calling out the young wide receiver who still on the team roster.
“This is where it went into overdrive, because then it became a blame game, didn’t it?” Yates asked. “Hey, the coaching is why we haven’t reached the heights we think we should have reached by this point. And one of the biggest deficiencies on the roster right now for Buffalo is, of course, the lack of a difference-making wide receiver.”
“Well, the biggest investment they’ve made recently in the draft is Keon Coleman. And not only did Terry Pegula kind of hit Sean McDermott and the whole coaching staff once again when they were already down, but he put his GM in a really bad spot there, didn’t he? That made Brandon Beane all of a sudden, it kind of undermined him a little bit, I thought it kind of undermined him a little bit. Brandon Beane handled some tough circumstances pretty well today, I think Terry Pagula probably got the most emotional reaction from people today.
Why is it such a big deal that the Bills owner explicitly calls out Coleman? Well, because unlike McDermott, Coleman is still under contract with the organization, which can’t agree with his teammates as they look forward to next season.
“It also puts a player still on your roster, and let’s be honest, is there likely to be a long-term future for Keon Coleman in Buffalo? Probably not, right? He’s still under contract. And the next time you can trade Keon Coleman is about a month and a half away, when the new league year starts not in early March.”
“I can’t imagine there’s a bunch of Buffalo Bills players sitting there right now who are really fired up that their owner is just throwing a young player who has tremendous talent, he was a first round pick just two years ago, under the bus like that. Like, why are we doing this? There are some things that are much better left unsaid.”
Will Coleman be on the roster next season? For everyone’s sake, we hope the answer is no, because his next interaction with Pegula would be inconvenient if he stays in Buffalo.
“Their owner is just throwing a young player who has huge talent… under the bus like that. Why are we doing this?”
