Finale, impossible mourning for Tyrese Halliburton?
This Thursday, the second season of the documentary series « Beginning 5 » is coming to Netflix, and among the players we followed last season there is Tyrese Halliburton. A choice that paid off as the Pacers playmaker, after a very difficult start to the season, found his level before shining in the playoffs, deciding like few before him, and playing in the finals.
“I’m happy that it’s survived over time with Netflix, so hopefully one day, my kids and people can see this and relive it and remember what we did.”, he rejoices Indiana player.
However, this historic and unforgettable journey will not remain a fond memory for Tyrese Haliburton. And with good reason: he injured Achilles tendon lost to Thunder in Game 7 of the finals. Double punishment.
“I think Game 7 hurt me the most. What hurts me more than anything is this match, this moment and this series”he admits. “It’s really hard not to think about Game 2, Game 4 or Game 5. If we had done things differently before, we wouldn’t be in this situation. You don’t necessarily have to play this game because otherwise you’re going to go crazy.”
But how can we not dwell on this last match of the season? The championship trophy was just 48 minutes away…
“Even at the time of my injury, when I was overcome with emotions, it was more about the match and the title”confirms the 2024 Olympic champion. “I have absolute certainty that I will come back, that I will be better, that I will be able to come back and repeat what I was doing before the injury. I have no doubts about that. So the grief, for me, comes from the series, from the title. It was there. If I’m honest, I don’t think I’ll ever get over it. I’ll never be able to get over it and it’s very difficult to go back.” get to the top, I know it will take time and there are still days and nights when I think about this series and suffer from it more than anything. »
