First major release for Cade Cunningham
“My last match was bad. I wanted to answer for my team and be better.” This was a mission Cade Cunningham against Orlando after his poor performance against physical defenses Cavaliers, during which he was clumsy and couldn’t tell the difference.
The leader of the Pistons was able to return, greatly benefiting from the Orlando team that lost advantage for defensecollected 30 points on 50% shooting, 10 assists, 6 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 blocks. Moreover, without losing a single ball. This is by far his best outing of the season.
“He found positions where he could attack and not get stuck in traffic, staying away from too many defenders”, notes his coach JB Bickerstaff. “He’s found more situations in isolation and not always in the pick-and-roll. That’s good for him. He’s no accident Cade Cunningham and we’re lucky to have him.”
At a terrible 1/7 on 3-pointers (like against the Cavaliers), the All-Star still has to adjust behind the line, but otherwise, his aggressiveness, his efficiency in the circle were good against the Magic.
“many things”answers the question of what worked in the second half (19 units). “My team helped me, giving me good screens, spreading the game. Our offense was a lot more efficient. I had the right mindset and my teammates were pushing me, which was important for me.”
