Fletcher Cox dropped a harsh truth bomb on the Super Bowl LII team against the 2023 team.

A few more hours, The Philadelphia Eagles are the reigning Super Bowl champions. Of course, their defense is over, and by the end of the week, or New England Patriots or Seattle Seahawks he will have the trophy, the titles and all the anecdotes that go with it.

And yet, in the opinion of the certified Eagles legend Fletcher Cocknot all Super Bowl teams are made of the same strength. No, in an interview with Devan Kenny, Eagles sideline reporter for 94VIP, Cox noted how special the team he won it all with back in 2017 was. especially when they are compared the 2023 team that was missing.

“There’s a difference between men and men trying to be men, and I’ll leave it at that,” Cox declared.

God, now that they will not be misquoted.

Comparing the two teams, the 2017 Eagles team was indeed a different build than the 2023 team. They had a veteran quarterback, albeit an injured one, in Nick Foles, a host of veterans on defense, and an offense loaded with second-contract players like Alshon Jeffery, Torrey Smith and LeGarrette Blount. The 2023 Eagles were not contractually expected to reach the Super Bowl so soon and had younger players at key positions, with Jalen Hurts still on a rookie contract, AJ Brown in his first year with the team and DeVonta Smith in his second year as a pro under third-year head coach Nick Sirianni.

Could Cox have had a clearer intention behind his words, calling out Sirianni vs. Doug Pederson, Hurts vs. Foles, or just the overall toughness of either team? Potentially so, but given that No. 91 has remained a popular figure in Philly since his retirement, including serving as honorary captain during the playoffs, it’s hard to imagine him being too eager to throw stones at his once-and-for-all NFL team.
