For Karl-Anthony Towns, facing the Wolves remains strange
A year after his shocking transfer from Minnesota to New York, Karl-Anthony Towns admits: playing against Wolves he always does special effect.
“I’m still in shock… It’s weird. I feel like Nick now, but seeing that Wolves jersey – especially the vintage black one – without Towns behind it is funny.”
Although the Wolves had just reached the Western Conference Finals, the club needed to save money and therefore decided to trade him, to recover Julius Randle etc Donte DiVincenzo. It was over a year ago, but Karl-Anthony Towns almost said ‘we’ again when he talked about Wolves in a press conference…
“There’s something special there”he continues. “It’s different when you’re in the process and now you’re going against the process. But it’s a great team. What they’re doing right now is exceptional, and I expect nothing less from them.”
Still close to his former teammates, as he explains that he talks to them “every day or almost”KAT especially insisted on human connections created over the years.
“It’s always special to see my brothers again. Ant, who becomes the face of the league. Rudy (Gobert) and I, we competed against each other for years, then became teammates, creating a real bond. It was really nice to play against my brothers. It’s just stronger than basketball. It’s a family.”
On the floor, the Knicks center had 15 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 blocks in New York’s 137-114 victory. A solid performance in a match full of memories and emotions.
