For Steve Kerr, the Warriors have the tools to get through this
With a record of 13-14, c Warriors skate and it annoys everyone, even the owner of the franchise, Joe Lacob, who expressed doubts, especially on Steve Kerr, in a public email.
The coach shrugged off this bit of pressure, which wouldn’t be “not a big topic”while confirming the frustration that occurs in the group. He also assumed his obligations, indicating that Golden State does not need reinforcements, that the solutions are present in the current composition. It’s up to him to find the right formula.
“It’s similar to last season: we’re irregular, we have about 50% of wins”, that’s how the coach compares. “But I know we have the answers here. Last season we had to make a transfer. This year I don’t think that’s the case. We have what we need here, but we have to be more regular and that starts with me, giving more consistent roles to my players.”
The most striking symbol of this last observation is Jonathan Cumminga obviously. A starter or important hitter, another replacement, or even removed from the rotation, the infield still hasn’t found its place Stephen Curry, Draymond Green etc Jimmy Butler.
Fragile situation
Especially due to injuries, but not only that, the Warriors’ top five changed as many as 15 times, in only 27 matches… “It’s complicated. We have 14 or 15 players that I can put on the floor, but I’m comfortable playing 11 or even 10 at the most”specified by Steve Kerr.
As the teams struggle even more, the Mavericks, Grizzlies, Kings and Clippers, there is no fire in Golden State, which is ranked 8th in the Western Conference. That’s why Steve Kerr wants to keep calm.
“As soon as we experience such a period in the NBA, we feel that it is fragile, that there is a vulnerability. For me, for our veterans, it is important to gather the troops, to gather the guys and to remember that the margin of error between winning and losing in the NBA is like that.” insists the coach. “We’ve lost some very close matches and we can turn the tide and do it together. It’s going to have to be done collectively.”
