Gabe Vincent has improved the injury report for the Pelicans clash

Riding a two-game winning streak, the Los Angeles Lakers will embark on a short two-game road trip with matchups against the New Orleans Pelicans and San Antonio Spurs. The Lakers have dealt with multiple injury problems this season, but head coach JJ Redick was hopeful that the veteran guard Gabe Vincent could be back during the upcoming trip.
Gabe Vincent was officially listed as suspicious on the injury report for the Lakers’ game against the Pelicans on Tuesday. Vincent has been sidelined for the last eight games with a back injury. He last played on Dec. 14 during the Lakers’ win against the Phoenix Suns, finishing with five points in just over 28 minutes.
Earlier this season, Vincent missed 11 games with an ankle injury. Vincent took the role of leader on this team, and Lakers head coach JJ Redick believes in him. So far this season, he has appeared in 14 games, including six starts, logging just over 21 minutes per game.
Vincent averaged 4.7 points and 1.4 assists while shooting 36.2 percent from the 3-point line. One of the key checks he had to pass to get back into the lineup was the opportunity to practice live. Vincent was able to participate in the Lakers’ practice last Saturday, albeit as a modified participant.
Earlier in the season when Vincent was dealing with an ankle injury, Brony James was given a chance to earn playing time. Most recently, Nick Smith Jr. and Dalton Knecht have been in the rotation. With Vincent likely waiting to return for the next two games, it will be interesting to see how Redick distributes his minutes.
In addition to Vincent’s change in status on the injury report, Austin Reeves Rui Hachimura and Adu Tiero remain out of the lineup.
