Gershon Yabusele holds off on Jose Alvarado trade

The New Orleans The Pelicans were in trade talks ahead of schedule, but it is uncertain whether anything will actually come true. As players like Zion Williamson, Trey Murphy III and Herb Jones got teams interestedthere are other players who showed interest on the list.
One of them is Jose Alvaradoand it seems like it is New York Knicks have an interest in him. Unfortunately for them, there is someone who is retention of tradeaccording to Brett Siegel of Clutch Points.
“They still want Jose Alvarado, that’s a very real possibility … but the Pelicans don’t want to take on Gershon Yabusele’s contract,” Siegel told Clutch Scoops.
Yabusele has a two-year, $11 million contract with a player option for the second year. The Pelicans may think Jabusele will pick up his player option, meaning he’ll still be on their books if they trade for him.
If the Pelicans don’t decide to trade Alvard, there’s a good chance he’ll be gone at the deadline. The latest report from Clutch Points’ Brett Siegel is that teams aren’t sure what the strategy is for the Pelicans.
“Teams around the NBA have been extremely confused by the Pelicans’ approach to this trade offseason, especially since they never considered any offers for Trey Murphy III and Herb Jones,” Siegel wrote. “Several playoff contending teams have been closely monitoring both players, and sources said NOLA received offers that included multiple first-round picks for Murphy and Jones.”
The Pelicans don’t have their first round pick for the upcoming draft, so it would be beneficial for them to try to get something in return for players like Murphy and Jones. The feeling around the team is that they have a playoff roster but need the right coach to help them.
