Giannis Antetokounmpo calls out ‘disrespectful’ question

Milwaukee The Bucks were able to bring back Giannis Antetokounmpo after he was sidelined with an injury, and they came out with a win against the Chicago Bulls. Even after the win, reporters asked Antetokounmpo about the trade rumors that swirled while he was out, but the Bucks star he didn’t have.

“I’m here. I’m here. I’m here,” Antetokounmpo said. “Don’t ask me that question. I’m here. It’s disrespectful to myself and my teammates. I wear that jersey every day. It’s disrespectful to the organization, my coaching staff, myself and the people who are trying to come out and say I don’t want to be here.”

While there have been rumors that Antetokounmpo may want to request a trade, it has yet to come out of his mouth publicly. That left open the idea that he is willing to stay and continue to compete with the team, despite where they currently sit in the standings.

Antetokounmpo definitely made his presence known in his first game back from injury, and coming to the press wasn’t even the bravest thing he did that night. With seconds running out in the game, Antetokounmpo hit a windmill dunk even though the Bucks already had a convincing win. Of course, the Bulls players weren’t happy with the way he handled the situation, but Antetokounmpo didn’t care.

after the game Antetokounmpo shared his thoughts about why he dunked with seconds remaining.

“We’re 11th in the East … We have to continue to find an identity,” Antetokounmpo said. “If it ends up being a little bit off, so be it. We’re not the champions. Why should we play on the clock, have respect and fair play? We’re fighting for our lives right now.”

It’s not certain if it will turn the season around for the Bucks, but it would be a start.
