Giannis Antetokounmpo declares his love for Milwaukee amid rumors

With big names like James Harden, Nikola Vucevic and Jaren Jackson Jr. finding new teams before the trade deadline, the question becomes: Giannis Antetokounmpo next?

It was recently discovered that Antetokounmpo is ready to move on from the Milwaukee Bucks. Almost every team has been linked to the two-time MVP, but nothing has happened yet.

However, in a report by Jim Ovczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Antetokounmpo stated that he wants to retire with the Bucks. He embraced Milwaukee as his home, as the city witnessed his growth from an unknown project to an elite-level player.

Antetokounmpo, 31, who led the Bucks to a title in 2021, opened with an emotional ode to Milwaukee.

“I’ve made more memories in this city than in my country,” the 10-time All-Star said in the report.

“I’ll tell you what I knew here. I knew what it meant to be an NBA player, what it meant to make it to the NBA. I learned what it meant to be an All-Star. I learned how to be a champion. I learned how to be an MVP. I learned how to be a father. I also got married in a courthouse in Milwaukee. I also got married in a courthouse in Milwaukee. I had my children here. My father is buried here.

Antetokounmpo has often said he wants to stay in the Cream City, but parting with Bucks he has allegedly been preparing for the past few years.

He claimed, however, that he has “zero” input into the Bucks’ talks with other teams.

“If you ask me what I really want deep in my heart? I want to be a Milwaukee Buck until I retire and win a championship here,” Antetokounmpo added.

“If that’s not possible to happen, and if you realize that’s not the case, and maybe they’re looking elsewhere, and that’s not what they’re trying to do, then automatically, you have to be in the plans of what they’re trying to do or weigh other options. That’s normal.”

Antetokounmpo is currently sidelined with a calf injury. There is no timetable for his return yet.
