Giannis Antetokounmpo has joined Chelsea ownership following the Kalshi controversy

It was recently discovered that The Milwaukee Bucks wouldn’t to trade Giannis Antetokounmpo before NBA trade deadline despite months of speculation on that front. The decision continued a saga that has captivated the NBA world since last offseason, with major questions about exactly what the Bucks’ strategy is moving forward.
Antetokounmpo drew some criticism from fans after the deadline by announcing his partnership with Kalshi, a prediction market with sports trading opportunities, which many saw as poor form after the deadline to sell nothing burgers.
Now, Antetokounmpo has announced another business venture he will participate in the promotion: the ownership group of Women FC Chelsea.
Antetokounmpo took to social media, writing that Chelsea FC “is a historic club built on passion, excellence and a winning culture. Chelsea’s history speaks for itself, and I am excited to contribute to the future by supporting the continued growth and impact of women’s sport. This is about ambition, legacy and taking the game to new heights.” according to his account on X, formerly Twitter.
While the move could be exciting for Antetokounmpo and his agents, it’s not news that Bucks fans, or fans from several other fanbases around the league, were hoping for an announcement about the future Hall of Famer this time of year.
Antetokounmpo has reportedly had plenty of suitors on the trade market over the past few weeks, but in the end, none of them seem to have made a big enough offer for the Bucks to turn down.
It remains to be seen what Milwaukee’s strategy will be going forward this year, as the team would benefit greatly from losing as much as possible to secure a higher draft pick, even though they will get less from their selection and the New Orleans Pelicans.
The Bucks will next take the floor on Monday against the Orlando Magic.
