Giannis Antetokounmpo imposes his power on the Knicks
In this beautiful East Coast poster, the Knicks are going 13-0 very quickly with Jalen Brunson very much present. Bucks substitutes offered a response, especially Gary Trent Jr, with a 10-0 run.
After these two series, the first quarter was tied (27-26). Milwaukee has the lead, but New York comes back and takes the lead with game-winning baskets. He falls all over the place and Jalen Brunson then hits a nail on the head. Bucks are left behind and we need muscle for it Giannis Antetokounmpo to limit damage during the break (59-71).
Even if the arguments remain balanced, the third quarter belongs to the Greek, who imposes his power (and his passes) in attack as well as in defense. Karl-Anthony Towns, so far very discreet, multiplies very questionable choices in the last moments of the quarter, which allows Milwaukee to approach the last turnaround in the lead (94-91).
The last quarter is getting complicated for New York as only Mikal Bridges seems to have offensive solutions. Jalen Brunson is in a state of physical readiness and loses his impact when Karl-Anthony Towns is still not around. With a 13-2 run and the icing on the cake in the form of Giannis’ dunk, the Bucks won, quite logically, 121-111.
WHAT TO REMEMBER
– Giannis Antetokounmpo over and over again. The two-time MVP gained momentum in this match. In the second half, he was more dominant and like the previous opponents Player of the weekThe Knicks couldn’t do anything to contain him. He finished with 37 points on 16/22 shooting, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 blocks.
– Second Level Knives in Milwaukee. The Greek had good support in this part. Ryan Rollins scored 25 points, Gary Trent Jr.’s 3-pointers worked well, Myles Turner made three valuable blocks. Giannis Antetokounmpo is the center of this team’s universe, but he gets real support, which helps win games.
– Where was Karl-Anthony Towns? It would be hard to say that the Knicks lost “without” the interior, because he was really on the floor. On the other hand, he missed his meeting. Very, very discreet in the first half, we saw more of him after the break, but he shoots poorly or makes mistakes. He certainly took 12 rebounds, but above all he shot 2/12 and lost 3 balls, for 8 points in 35 minutes. His absence eventually took its toll, as Jaylen Branson and Mikal Bridges couldn’t do it all by themselves.
