Giannis Antetokounmpo tells son he’ll dunk on Wemba one day

The The Milwaukee Bucks have surprised some recently in the NBA world with their decision to keep Giannis Antetokounmpo through the NBA trade deadline. Antetokounmpo was in Los Angeles for NBA All-Star Weekend festivities over the weekend, but did not participate in the event as he continues to recover from a calf injury.
At one point, Antetokounmpo shared a hilarious moment with his 4-year-old son, joking with the San Antonio Spurs star Victor Vembanyamacost in the process.
“So at 19, you’re going to be drafted, and then you’re going to be Rookie of the Year, and then you’re going to be an All-Star, and then you’re going to dunk at Wembley,” Antetokounmpo said on the NBA’s X account, formerly Twitter.
Giannis: “How old are you? 4?”
His son: “Four.”
Giannis: βSo at 19, you’re going to get drafted, and then you’re going to be Rookie of the Year, and then you’re going to be an All-Star, and then you’re going to dunk at Wembley.
Son: π
Giannis: “Yes!”

For that to happen, Wembanjama would have to have at least an 18-year NBA career, which isn’t off the charts considering the historic start he’s gotten to with the Spurs. However, dunks at Wembanyama have been few and far between so far in his career, so it would certainly take a lot from the younger Antetokounmpo to pull it off.
Meanwhile, as previously mentioned, Antetokounmpo remained with the Bucks after the trade deadline despite rampant rumors, though it’s unclear if that will mean he’ll be a member of the organization long-term, or if it was simply a delay until the summer, when other teams can make more lucrative offers for the star.
Some have floated the idea of ββthe Bucks locking up Antetokounmpo until the end of the year in hopes of securing a higher draft pick, which could help entice him to stay or speed up their rebuild if he leaves. The Bucks will have less than their pick and the New Orleans Pelicans.
Either way, the Bucks’ 2025-26 season is set to resume Friday night with a visit to New Orleans.
