Giannis Antetokounmpo’s social media purge caused fans to disappear

The The Milwaukee Bucks continued they lost their way on Monday night with a road loss to the lowly Washington Wizards. The Bucks are now 9-13 on the season, and haven’t gotten much better since Giannis Antetokounmpo recently returned from injury.
On Tuesday, the Bucks fan base was sent into a panic when GiannisMuse on X, formerly Twitter, revealed that the star had seemingly purged a good portion of his social media.
Now, Antetokounmpo’s last post on X is from 2021, while his Instagram handle has also been cleared of many recent posts. Notably, his Instagram account also features a photo of him in a Greek uniform, not the Bucks, and also doesn’t mention Milwaukee in his bio.
Needless to say, fans in the comments section had their thoughts.
“Welcome to the Knicks, Giannis Mews,” one fan wrote, predicting Antetokounmpo’s long-anticipated move to New York.
Others took a more sensible approach to the situation.
“I’d hate to lose him to a terrible coach, but as a fan I’m tired of all this nonsense if he wants to leave, he should say we’re getting another superstar and nice picks. The team will have to give up a lot for him,” they wrote.
Overall, it’s been abundantly clear through the first month of the season that this Bucks team is nowhere near a contender even with Antetokounmpo playing at an MVP level. Making matters even more embarrassing for Milwaukee is the fact that they lead the league in three-point percentage per mile at 41% as a team, and are still four games under .500 in the weak East.
All in all, while nothing has been reported yet, it certainly wouldn’t be shocking to see Antetokounmpo explore greener pastures.
