Giannis trade scenario that could keep Jonathan Cummings with the Warriors

As the NBA trade winds continue to blow in the weeks leading up to the Feb. 5 deadline, one of the biggest names that will be constantly mentioned is the Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo. Giannis himself has vehemently denied making any trade demandsbut that likely won’t stop rival teams from trying to engage in trade talks, especially in the Golden State Warriors.

The Warriors have been the team with reported trade interest in Giannis Antetokounmpo for some time now, and it’s possible they could even keep the disgruntled forward Jonathan Cumminga hoping to make a trade for the Bucks star. That would be a legitimate scenario for the Warriors to keep Cummings trade deadline passedaccording to ClutchPoints’ NBA insider Brett Siegel.

During a recent episode of Clutch Scoops, Siegel mentioned that while Kuminga has made it known that he wants to be traded, the only likely situation in which the Warriors wouldn’t do so would be to include him as part of a larger trade to acquire Antetokounmpo in the offseason.

The Bucks are currently 17-23 and in 11th place in the Eastern Conference standings. They’ve lost two games in a row, and as they continue to struggle, the chatter about Antetokounmpo’s future will only increase.

The nine-time All-Star is in the prime of his career and among the top five players in the league. He appeared in 26 games with just over 29 minutes per game. He averaged 29.1 points, 9.7 rebounds and 5.7 assists while shooting 64.9 percent from the field, 38.9 percent from the 3-point line and 65.1 percent from the free throw line.

Despite the Bucks’ efforts, the organization is reportedly on the market as buyers at the deadline looking for a roster upgrade to appease Antetokounmpo.
