Gilbert Arenas’ Podcast host in the rise of NBA pods

If it feels like every NBA star has a podcast … you’re not wrong. Electricity and former NBA great shine, such as Gilbert Arenas, dominated by Podcast space. Gil’s Arena, which producer is underdog, right now 1.1 million youtube subscribers and counts praise. The key part of that success follows from the Arenas’s collaborative chemistry with its creative team, which was led by Josiah Johnson, executive producer and host incentives.
I talked to Johnson about popularity explosion in Spac NBA podcast and what separates Gil’s arena from the rest of the full field.
Johnson’s name, or at least his moniker, is already known for many basketball fans – he is the Internet declared “King of NBA Twitter”. If you haven’t already known Josiah Johnson from Place on Meme and Pop Cultural Tweets that set the # nbatwitter for most of the past decade, with Raho known fans, including Lebron James and Jordan Peele, his online persona was recently immortal in a Semifice friendly comedy / documentary “Memes & Nightmares” (Available for Stream Hulu).
But Josiah took over that brush fame and ruled into other creative pursuits, including hosting and executive authorities produced by Gilov Arena. Johnson attributes an increase in the popularity of the NBA player in the fact that “gives them the opportunity to control their narrative, tell their story and do things to do.”
According to Johnson, players who produce their own broadcasts provide them with a chance to “take advantage of their brands, create and build platforms for themselves”, beyond traditional media as past generations of stars.
Johnson also knows very well off the bridge navigation between old and new sports media – except 2001-2005 playing, Johnson is also the Son of Legend and TV Analyst Marques Johnson.
Josiah points to the occasional nature of the podcast settings as another reason for his appeal. Basketball commentators are often covered with suits and relationships on a traditional TV sold to appear more professional, but Johnson says the podcasts are looking for something differently today.
“The reality today wants to see people who look like them, dresses like them and talk like them,” Johnson explains.
Gil’s Arena shoots from the Gilbert Arenas basement, which Johnson, is always ready with pop cultural allusion, jokes provide the show “Wayne’s world guy in the world”.
Johnson worked out that “When you have a heap of former players, they have a lot of the same common interests and emotions … I think it makes people, and talks we have, and only provide another game.”
With regard to stand out in the crowded NBA, Johnson quickly praises and other popular basketballs there and insists that there is a room for everyone to help each other use the audience and succeed.
As for how Gil’s Arena realizes that, “it’s just indicative of Gil-grind, work ethic, bringing her every day …” Johnson explains. In combination with Josiah’s drive as an executive producer and household that Gil’s energy and “grinds would like to be successful,” together they built a community and the online community together.
But the maintenance and growth of popular NBA podcast is every little difficult – if not firmer – than to play in the NBA. Somehow Josiah Johnson and Gilbert Arenas defied the chances and broke the password for success, and for that a new generation of basketball fans extremely grateful.
