Gilbert Arenas pressures Lakers after Giannis Antetokounmpo trade news

The Los Angeles Lakers has been playing well lately, currently 11 games over .500 after the recent one away win over the Chicago Bulls. Still, some have speculated that a trade could be in the works on the horizon for the Lakersand the deadline is approaching next week.
On Wednesday, Shams Charania of ESPN reported that “Giannis Antetokounmpo is ready for a new home by the Feb. 5 NBA trade deadline or the offseason as several rival teams make aggressive offers to the Milwaukee Bucks for him,” on X, formerly Twitter.
Now, a former NBA guard Gilbert Arenas please Lakers yes get in on the action.
“Listen to Jeannie Bass, LeBron, whoever’s running the organization right now. We’ve got players that we need to roll, we can roll, okay. Marcus Smart, sorry, you can go. AR, Rui, Jake from all over the country,” Arenas said in a video posted on his X account.
“Hey Giannis, you could get a house. Come here, I’ll move into an apartment. You, Luca and LeBron James, we’re winning this year. Come on. We love Greece here. Oh my god, make it happen. Rich, call me,” he added.
At this point, it’s unclear if the Lakers will be able to come close to the inevitably high asking price the Bucks will command for their best player in franchise history. A high-profile trade between the Lakers and the Bucks worked pretty well for Los Angeles in the 1970s when they brought in Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Los Angeles would hope to restart that historic streak if a similar deal was signed with Antetokounmpo.
However, at the moment, the more likely scenario is that Rob Pelinka and company are looking to make some minor moves along the perimeter to help the Lakers defensively, where they have struggled this year.
Los Angeles next takes the court on Wednesday night against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
