Gilbert Arenas thinks New Orleans should trade Zion Williamson

The New Orleans Pelicans have struggled this season, and their poor start resulted in the firing of head coach Willie Green. As the season progresses, Pelicans rumors swirl Zion Williamson are inevitable. The The Pelicans are reportedly open to trading Williamsonand former NBA star Gilberto Arenas is considered one of the voices that believe in it it’s time to move.
During a recent episode of ‘Gils’ Arena, Gilbert Arenas stated that it’s time for the Pelicans to trade Zaon Williamson.
“We have to go in a different direction. We can no longer put all our resources around Zion if he can’t be healthy,” Arenas said. “Obviously you’d like him to be a part of this nice little trio … but he just can’t stay healthy. If you can give him something back, that can add to your roster to help them build their confidence, build their game, then you’ve got to do that. And this is the time because you’ve got two guys who are the starters of the future.”
Two players Arenas mentioned as future stars are Derrick Quinn and Jeremiah Fears. Both were lottery picks in the 2025 NBA draft and have started their rookie years well.
meanwhile, Williamson is ruled out again with an adductor injury. He appeared in 10 games this season with just over 30 minutes per game. He averaged 22.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.6 steals while shooting 51 percent from the field and 72.3 percent from the free throw line.
