Grayson Allen leaves the Pacers game with a right leg injury

Grayson Allen left Thursday night’s game against Indiana Pacers after colliding with a defender and was ruled out with a right quad contusion, Suns reporter Amanda Pflugrad said. The veteran guard briefly headed to the locker room and he didn’t come backleaving Phoenix to finish the second quarter without one of its primary scorers.
Allen carried a heavy burden for Phoenix Suns early in the season, starting and averaging about 19.0 points, 4.5 assists and 3.3 rebounds per game, per ESPN. He also exploded for a career-high 42 points and a franchise record 10 triples just a few days before, so any leg problems immediately raise concerns about short-term availability and pace.
At that point, Allen grabbed his right thigh after the collision and cautiously walked to the locker room while trainers examined him. The Suns initially listed the problem as a contusion, the type of bruise that usually requires rest, icing and monitoring the swelling rather than surgery, but can still reduce explosiveness and limit shooting mechanics if pain persists.
The Phoenix coaching and medical staff are now faced with a choice. Rest Allen conservatively to protect his legs after a historic week, or try to bounce back quickly in a packed early season schedule. The Suns have depth around him, but his perimeter shooting and late-game poise proved decisive in recent victorieswhich means backups will have to absorb both the minutes and creation duties if it misses time.
Expect daily updates; with a contusion, recovery can vary from a few days to prolonged pain depending on how it responds to treatment. For now, Phoenix remains hopeful that the quad will be a short break what was the breakthrough for Allen.
