Guerschon Yabusele is not enough…

After theirs stunning win against HoustonThe Knicks travel to Chicago for the second game in two nights. The game started with a mistake fest: the Bulls missed 9 of their first 11 shots, while New York struggled from long range. Despite a short early lead, the Knicks dominate on the rebound.
Chicago gradually took control thanks to the shooting of Gershon Yabusele (11 points, 13 rebounds), Nick Richards (9 points, 14 rebounds) and Isaac Okoro (12 points). Karl-Anthony Towns is keeping New York afloat with his skill on the outside, but his (frustrating) offensive mistakes are slowing his team’s momentum. The Bulls lead 53-52 at the break.
The Knicks wake up in the third quarter
Coming back from the locker room, New York raises its voice. Fueled by the skill of Josh Hart, Mikal Bridges, Jalen Branson and Landry Shamet (16 points), the Knicks inflicted a 21-10 on their hosts and increased the maximum deficit by 13 points.
Chicago is not giving up, relying on Jabusele and the always spectacular Matas Bouzelis (15 points) to come back five lengths. However, the Knicks enter the last quarter in the lead: 83-78.
A tense time of money dominated by the Towns
The fourth quarter was marked by several leadership changes. Chicago briefly regains the advantage after the winning shot by Bouzelis (95-94). Then Karl-Anthony Towns (28 points, 11 rebounds) took over the costume of the hero: he scored six consecutive points (3-point shot, layup, free throw) to restore the advantage to the Knicks.
In the last minute, Mikal Bridges scored the decisive winning shot, and then Jalen Branson (19 points, 9 assists) sealed the victory with free throws. Final score: 105-99.
WHAT TO REMEMBER
Iabusele surmotives. Unsurprisingly, Guerschon Iabusele was keen to send a message to Mike Brown and his energy allowed him to complete a fine double-double. It’s a shame he lacked the support to create a surprise.
Black series. The Bulls suffered their 9th straight loss, and to make matters worse Anfernee Simmons joined Zach Collins and Jaden Ivey in the infirmary. The play-in race seems to have been forgotten.
Mike Brown and Fashion Thibodeau. While the Knicks had heavy legs, Mike Brown decided to rely on the short rotation. Mohamed Diawara, Jordan Clarkson and Tyler Kolek didn’t even play…
