Half court Trace Jackson-Davis brings a light moment after Jimmy Butler’s injury

On Monday night, Golden State Warriors had a big win over the Miami Heat, but the big story of the game was Jimmy Butler is leaving with what has since been revealed to be a torn ACL. An injury automatically hangs a cloud over the rest season of the Warriorsof which Butler will no longer be a part, and raises major questions for the front office regarding the upcoming trade deadline.

It wasn’t all bad vibes at the Chase Center after the injury, though, thanks in large part to an epic buzzer beater by backup big man Trace Jackson-Davis on the other side half court line.

Jackson-Davis is one of many players who have been in and out of Steve Kerr’s inconsistent rotations this year, but he made the most of his opportunity Monday against Miami, providing a rare moment of levity amid what was otherwise a somber scene at Chase Center, with many fans seemingly immediately recognizing the extent of Butler’s injury.

With Butler now out for the rest of this season and possibly next season, the Warriors front office will have to think long and hard about what they want their strategy to be at the upcoming trade deadline.

At this point, it looks like Golden State is likely out of realistic Western Conference contention with their second-best player now sidelined, but that still doesn’t mean the team won’t try to add some talent at the deadline, potentially sending Butler’s huge salary in a deal.

The Warriors could also decide to completely rebuild and look to trade destinations for point guard Stephen Curry, though that seems like a long shot at this point.

Either way, the Warriors will take the next floor on Tuesday night at home against the Toronto Raptors.
