The The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves in a thriller 116-115. that saw Austin Reaves deliver the winning float on the buzzer.
The Lakers team posted a photo of him on social media Reaves bucket clutch, and it’s a picture NBA fans won’t want to miss.
“Art,” the Lakers media team tweeted with the photo.
The buzzer-beater capped off what was a stellar night for the 27-year-old guard. Reaves recorded a record 28 points and 16 assists. Lakers head coach JJ Redick was impressed with the last shot of the Arkansas native, but also credited with the way he celebrated the victory.
“We were just watching the video. It was great. Yeah, it was great,” Redick told the Athletics after the game. “But I’ll tell you what was even scarier about it. He hit and who did he turn and run to? It was his teammates. He ran right to his teammates.”
With LeBron James was absent due to sciatica, and Luka Doncic due to a sprained finger on his left hand, Reeves had to take on a heightened role. Through his first five games of the season, he averaged 34.2 points and 10 assists while shooting roughly 53 percent from the field.
“He’s established himself as a bad guy. He did that last year. I think around the league he’s looked at as a really good player. Maybe some people looked at him — what rank, I don’t know. I don’t care about that. But last year, I think he showed himself to be a bad guy,” Redick said. “He’s done it. For me, I think the big thing is that he’s established himself as a leader. He’s one of the leaders — or the leader — on the field. And that’s a big moment. That’s what we want. That’s what we need from him, and he’s done that.”
Reaves and the Lakers are 3-2 on the season. They will face the Grizzlies in Memphis on Friday.
